This Privacy Policy explains how RésuméTuna ("RésuméTuna," "we," "us," or "our"), a Delaware Corporation operating out of Orlando, Florida, collects, uses, discloses, and protects information about you when you use our job application tracking services ("Service" or "App").
2. Information We Collect
We collect information primarily provided directly by you to enable the core functionality of the job tracker. We collect the following categories of data:
- Account Data: Name, email address, and hashed password.
- Job Tracking Data: Job titles, company names, status (Applied, Interviewing), personal notes, and sensitive data like salary information.
- Contact Log Data: Names, titles, and contact information for individuals you input.
- Application Content: Any text or documents you manually upload (e.g., resume drafts, cover letter text, job description text).
- Usage and Technical Data: IP address, device type, browser type, and usage patterns collected automatically to improve the service.
Data Collected via the RésuméTuna Chrome Extension
When you use the RésuméTuna Chrome Extension, we adhere to the Chrome Web Store's User Data Policy by collecting the following data only when you click the extension icon and explicitly authorize the analysis:
- Job Posting Content (Scraped Data): The HTML content (description), job title, and company name of the job posting displayed on the active webpage.
- Source Metadata: The URL and title of the page where the analysis was initiated.
- Authentication Token: We store a non-identifying authentication token in Chrome's synchronized or local storage (via
chrome.storage) solely for the purpose of securely verifying your identity and linking the clipped content to your registered RésuméTuna account via our API. This token is removed automatically upon logout.
The data collected via the Chrome Extension is immediately and exclusively transmitted to our secure API endpoint for processing and storage within your RésuméTuna account as Job Tracking Data and Application Content, where it is then subject to the use policies described in Section 3. We do not use this data for any marketing or advertising purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following essential purposes:
- To Provide Core Services: To operate, maintain, and provide the features of your job application pipeline.
- To Power "Next Action" Logic: To process your Job Tracking Data to generate automated, actionable recommendations on your dashboard.
- Security and Compliance: To protect the Service, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations, including those of our Florida-based operations.
- Marketing: To send service announcements and promotions about RésuméTuna's features, including upcoming premium AI services, where permitted.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We only share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: With vendors who perform services on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting, security, and analytics providers) under strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation or protect our rights or property.
- Business Transfers: In connection with any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition.
5. Future Premium (AI) Features
The core tracking Service is currently free. If you choose to subscribe to future premium features, such as Resume-JD Analysis, your data handling will be subject to additional conditions:
- Data Processing: Documents uploaded for analysis will be processed by our AI service providers to generate the requested report.
- Explicit Consent: You will be required to provide explicit consent before submitting sensitive documents to any AI analysis tool.
- We will disclose the identity of any third-party AI provider used for analysis.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You have the following rights regarding the personal information we hold about you:
- Access and Correction: You can access, review, and update your account information directly through the App settings.
- Opt-Out of Marketing: You can opt out of receiving promotional emails via the unsubscribe link in those emails.
- Data Deletion ("Right to Erasure"): You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data. We will retain certain information only as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
7. Security and Data Location
We take reasonable measures to protect the information collected through the Service. However, no security measure is perfect.
As our company is incorporated in Delaware and operates out of Orlando, Florida, USA, your data will primarily be processed and stored within the United States.
8. Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, through a prominent notice on the App or by email. Continued use of the Service after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
9. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved pursuant to the governing law and binding arbitration terms established in our separate Terms of Service.
